How to read a chord box

A chord diagram is a photo of the guitar neck, stood upright. Vertical lines are strings (thickest on the left). Horizontal lines are frets. Dots tell you where fingers go — the numbers say which finger.

That is the whole system. You can now read every chord ever written. Not bad for thirty seconds.
